The 5th edition of the New Aquitaine Aeronautics and Space Talents, opened by Cédric Gautier, the CEO of Stelia Aerospace, brought together 250 people in Bordeaux, this Thursday, December 5 at the Palais de la Bourse in Bordeaux. The event, organized by La Tribune in co-creation with the association BAAS (Bordeaux Aquitaine aeronautics and space), saluted the career paths of eight professionals in the sector. Here are the winners.

“It is urgent and vital to review and transform the French supply chain in the aeronautical sector to recover profitability and investment capacity […] Our supply chain needs to consolidate with more ETI in the aeronautics sector. Today there are very nice intermediary companies but also a myriad of SMEs that are still too small to resist the wave that is coming and which requires strong capacities for innovation and investment! “

It is through this unambiguous call that Cédric Gautier, CEO of Stelia Aerospace (€ 2.2 billion in turnover and 7,100 employees on three continents), launched the 5th edition of the New Aquitaine Aeronautical Talents and Space this December 5, 2019. “Competition is fierce and fierce in the aeronautical sector and this involves investing, innovating, training and reaching critical mass and best cost production (best costs, Editor’s note. We need an industrial vision and take the essential turn of connectivity and big data “, he continued in front of 250 decision-makers in the aeronautics, space and defense sector coming from all the southwest of France .

Vice-president of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Regional Council in charge of economic development and the digital economy, Bernard Uthurry mentioned in the introduction the efforts made by the aeronautical world to reduce its environmental footprint and the actions of the local authority engaged in the same direction, framed by the NeoTerra roadmap. In addition to the musical interludes of the Aeronauts, the orchestra of the Aeroparc de Bordeaux, the evening was punctuated by interventions by leaders and professionals from the sector from leading companies such as ArianeGroup, Thales, Expleo Group, Dassault, Stelia Aerospace Composites, Roxel, CFAI Aquitaine and SIAé / AIA de Bordeaux. From the delivery of the Ariane 6 launcher to Guyana to the future of touchscreen avionics, passing through the requirements of maintaining operational conditions, the profession of aircraft technician, working in a multi-functional team and transforming factories without paper, the themes addressed were as specific as they were varied.

Eight courses of excellence rewarded

During the evening, eight prizes were awarded to highlight both the excellence of these professional careers and the diversity of professions offered by this sector. Three women are among the winners. The jury was made up of industrial players who are members of the BAAS (Bordeaux Aquitaine Aeronautics and Space) association and La Tribune.

Prize n ° 1: Study, R&D, design, tests / engineer and manager Lauréat : Alexis Claverie, project manager at Ventana

Entering Ventana in apprenticeship just after his engineering school in industrial systems engineering, Alexis Claverie was quickly entrusted with the innovative aeronautical Carter project for environmental benefit (Caribbean). Following this successful project, he took charge of the development projects of the research department. The objective was to make developments more reliable and reduce delays: objective achieved thanks to digital simulation and 3D design technologies.

Nominated: Perrine Tharaud, head of research and technology and engineering department at Stelia Composites.

Sponsors: Jacques Mangon, mayor of Saint-Médard-en-Jalles and vice-president of Bordeaux Métropole, and Pascal Gicquel, ground system equipment manager at ArianeGroup

VENTANA Arudy awarded by Airbus Helicopters

During the 2018 Helitech Show in Amsterdam, Airbus Helicopters presented Ventana Arudy with an award for outstanding industrial performance.

This award specifically commends the objectives met based on two key performance indicators: 1- On-time delivery rate: Ventana Arudy has had an on-time delivery rate with Airbus Helicopters close to 100% for a number of years, 2- A level of quality in keeping with the standards of one of Ventana Arudy’s top customers.

Note: Ventana Arudy was presented with an innovation Award in 2016, for the introduction of technological building blocks into our development process for new parts and mass production. The digital chain made up of all these technological building blocks reduces our customers’ development time by 4, halves NRC costs and lowers the reported weight of produced parts by around 10%.

Guided tour of VENTANA Arudy on Wednesday 22 November for the employees’ families

VENTANA Arudy hosted a special event for its employees’ families: 123 visitors attended and were shown around the site. This guided tour followed the steps of the production cycle of a miniature aircraft (visit of the process planning department for design, 3D printer for mould elements, watching casting, non destructive tests, etc.).

After completing the ‘young founder’s quiz’ specially prepared for the event, each child went home with their own model airplane.

This educational and friendly experience was a great success. Ventana Arudy wishes to host this event again.
